2012-2013 Student Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements
beginning July 1, 2012
For those NEW students who do not have a High School Diploma or GED: The U.S. Dept. of Education eliminated Ability to Benefit (ATB) as a way to acquire financial aid eligibility. View updated Eligibility Requirements on the Financial Aid web site at www.butte.edu/financialaid.
Students who do not have one of the following: a high school diploma, GED, or the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE), and are applying for financial aid will need to meet the Ability-to-Benefit requirement.
The Ability-to-Benefit requirement can be met with specific scores on the COMPASS; or for students whose primary language is not English, the CELSA (ESL Assessment) can be used to meet the requirement. Students using the CELSA must enroll in at least one (1) ESL course. COMPASS study guides are available via the link(s) below or contact our office. There is a two week turnaround for the ATB results.
Contact the Assessment Office to schedule an appointment and/or pick up the COMPASS ATB study guides. Please call (530) 895. 2350.

** Please Note: Effective July 1, 2012, Ability-to-Benefit (ATB) testing will no longer be available to new students. Students must earn a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent in order to be eligible for financial aid. Current students who have met ATB will continue to be eligible as long as they maintain enrollment. Please contact the Assessment Office to discuss your ATB testing options. |
